Blackwood Camera Campaign
In partnership with Tahoe Prosperity Center and University of Nevada Reno, please join us in expanding the network of life-saving AlertWildfire.org cameras to the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. Currently there are operational cameras looking for wildfires on the West Shore placed in Alpine Meadows, Dollar Point, Homewood and Palisades, but the upper Blackwood Canyon area is a concerning blind spot.
A camera positioned in Blackwood Canyon would provide several key benefits:
*Enhanced Early Detection: AlertWildfire cameras (https://www.alertwildfire.org/) use AI to detect and report fires at inception to emergency services.
*Improved Visibility of Coverage: The camera would add much-needed expansion of coverage to the Tahoe Basin, especially the West Shore area. This canyon is considered a critical wildfire area.
*Support for Firefighting Efforts: These cameras are an invaluable tool for our local and state firefighting efforts. They are used not only for early wildfire detection, but to plan fire fighting resources and potential evacuation strategy.
You can help by donating to this campaign and growing this important early-detection fire camera network!
All donations are tax deductible and restricted to the Blackwood Canyon specific camera and maintenance.
